I've been getting alot of questions on how you should progress on gear.
Aside from that being mostly class related and a personal choice, I'll share how I did it, and how I think it's best.

When you just start playing

You'll grab whatever you find, this will probably mostly consist of whatever you get from quests, such as:

  • Cruhorn Helmet = 12 DP (can later be upgraded to Devourer Helmet, =25 DP)
  • Red Orc Armor = 23 DP
  • Amerigo's Shoes = 10 DP (can later be upgraded to Veteran Adventurer's Shoes = 20 DP)
  • Ceasar's Gloves = 10 DP (can later be upgraded to Wind Crystal Gloves = 17 DP)

At a later point you'll receive a quest for the Dim Magical Armor = 48 DP and this can be upgraded when questing through Mediah, into Roaring Magical Armor = 60 DP

Weapons are also provided through main questline, such as:
I'll change the class weapon names into "weapon" to make it easier.

  • Basteer "weapon" = 20-24 AP
  • Dim Magical "offhand" = 7-9 AP + 17 DP

The Basteer can be enhanced if you wish, however I wouldn't go over +7 or +8 because if you fail you will lose durability and as a new player it will be hard to do this right from the start.
The Dim Magical offhand can be exchanged in the same way as the Dim Armor, but these quests only show up in the Calpheon region, and only when you're done with the main questline there.

While questing your way through Calpheon you'll notice blue gear drops and accessories. These are actually pretty good so if they are better than what you have from the questline, use it.

Once you reach lv51ish

Your black spirit will tell you that you're ready for Mediah.
However when you start going there you'll notice shit gets harder. This is where you start making the choice of which green armor to go for (no enhancing, just save up and buy shit... its cheaper).

The most common choices are:

  • Roaring Dim Armor = 60 DP
  • 3 parts DUO Grunil = 127 DP + 5 AP + 150 HP (2-set and 3-set)
  • Full Asulas accessories OR 5 set Asulas and General's Earring
(obtained through black spirit, you can upgrade it with quests)

or

  • 2 parts DUO Grunil & 2 parts DUO Heve = 187 (same as first option)
    +5 AP (2-set Grunil) + 250 HP (2-set Heve)
  • Full Asulas accessories OR 5 set Asulas and General's Earring
(obtained through black spirit, you can upgrade it with quests)

Of course you can do whatever you want, it's after all a personal choice.
I used the first option as it was easier to swap out for the first boss item, if you go for 2-set you'll have to swap in 2s. If you go for the 3-set you can swap out 1 item without losing the set bonus and decide after if you want to add another boss item to get the 2-set Grunil and 2-set boss or go for full boss right after breaking the set.

As for weapons, at this point you have multiple choices.

I would suggest to stay on the Dim Magical offhand as long as you can, because yes you can swap to a full AP offhand but that will cost you money. You can also try to suck it up and go for Kutum when you saved up enough instead. Kutum is a key item in higher level grinds so you'll want it ASAP.

As for main hand, for pve you should pick either Rosar or Kalis. Kalis is a little bit lower in AP, generally cheaper on market and doesn't drop AP when it rains (yes that's a thing lol). This is a personal choice so I'll not continue this further.

When you reach lv56

The black spirit will tell you that you can awaken your class.
Once you get through this questline thing you'll recieve a +10 Green Awakening weapon and a Blue Awakening weapon.
Basically the Green Awakening weapon is for PVE and the Blue Awakening weapon is better for PVP.

This is a choice you have to make on your own. If you prefer to PVP while grinding, you can go for a TRI Blue Awakening weapon (of course it will be lower in the start because silver XD), before going for TRI/TET Dandelion. The reason why I say TRI/TET is because blue has a higher AP than green and so the step to Dandelion will be significantly smaller AP wise.

You can also stick to the PVE Green Awakening weapon, grind with a TRI and make the swap to Dandelion after that, this will be a nice increase to your AP and save you some money since the Green is alot cheaper.

You can still stick to Asulas to save yourself some money until you get through boss gear.

Full TRI Greens, now what?

Next up... Boss weapons! Yep, weapons first.

Alright so we got main hands, that mainly increase your AP and accuracy (this is important for melee classes and those who want to pvp). Options are Kzarka, Offin and Blackstar.
For now Blackstar will be WAY out of your price range so forget about that XD

Then there is of course offhands, Kutum is a very wanted item that will greatly increase your damage output towards PVE. Even high grindspots require this item.
You'll be using Nouver when you can reach the 261 bracket with it, and stop using it again when you can reach the same with Kutum. So this is not a prio item, only if you want more AP during PVP fights (you can put both on hotbar and swap in between).

Then we got the Dandelion Awakening weapon! This usually comes after main and offhand, but again its personal preference so swap it up when you feel like it.

Then... Boss armor!

There's a few different types of boss armor, and those are mostly preference based of course XD Any combination however gets you the set bonuses;

  • 3-set: Max. Stamina +200
  • 4-set: Attack & Casting Speed +1

So how do we get these shiny bits? Welp, some of em are scroll bosses, some are field or world bosses and some spawn in rifts! Yeah, that doesn't help...
Stats are shown as DUO

Giath's Helmet (62 DP + 100 HP)

  • Daily Scroll
  • Rift Boss

Griffon's Helmet (62 DP + 5% Resistance to all)

  • Weekly Scroll (after finishing Kamasylvia questline)
  • Rift Boss

Red Nose's Armor (71 DP + 10 HP Recovery + 100 Max. MP/WP/SP)

  • Daily Scroll
  • Field Boss (near Western Guard Camp)
  • Rift Boss

Dim Tree Spirit's Armor (71 DP + 200 Max. HP + 100 Max. MP/WP/SP)

  • Weekly Scroll
  • Field Boss (near Western Guard Camp)
  • Rift Boss

Muskan's Shoes (59 DP)

  • Weekly Scroll
  • Rift Boss

Urugon's Shoes (61 DP)

  • Weekly Scroll (after finishing Kamasylvia main questline)

Bheg's Gloves (42 DP)

  • Daily Scroll
  • Field Boss (near Heidel)
  • Rift Boss

Leebur's Gloves (42 DP)

  • Weekly Scroll (after finishing Drieghan main questline)

I'm not sure if Rift bosses can drop their boss gear but I listed them just in case XD

Gear Priorities

This is both preference and class dependant, but I can give you the general idea...

For classes who use their main hand alot or are melee:

  • Main hand
  • Offhand
  • Gloves
  • Awakening
  • the rest of it

For witch/wizard (my personal preference)

  • Offhand
  • Awakening
  • Main hand
  • Armor
  • the rest of it

Accessories are usually final items as it's alot more expensive to enhance these as it is to enhance boss gear. Yeah, not kidding. Anyway, this is how you progress in gear 🙂

Did this help you?
How did you do it?
Anything you have to add?

How to prep for Boss Gear door @Metalharpey#7947

Dit is haar advies/gids over How to prep for Boss Gear in Black Desert Online  in het engels gezien de oorspronkelijke guide is geschreven voor de onismusha guild in bdo !!

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

Hunt Bosses

Worldbosses, field bosses and scroll bosses all have a small chance to drop boss gear. It's very worth to do these if you're aiming for boss gear. Aside from gear, they also drop silver, Black Stones, Hunter Seals and sometimes also crystals or accessories.

You can see the spawn locations on the map. The world bosses have a fixed spawntime which you can find in the image below, or you can join the IHAEU Discord to see what spawns when. World bosses share HP over all channels, so during the day you gotta be fast!

http://urzasarchives.com/wp-content/uploads/wbt_eu-7.jpg

Field bosses spawn whenever they feel like it and have their own HP per channel. Since you never really know when these will spawn, it's recommended to have a boss hunter alt with a fast horse (T7 or T8 courser would be optimal). Just put it close to the boss(es) you want/need and you can swap to it whenever they spawn.

Scroll bosses are the fastest to do in a group. It's not proven that awakened has a higher droprate, so if you want you can just pick the normal scrolls of the boss(es) you want/need and do them solo. These scrolls also give you Blackstones and silver.

Market Pre-Orders

Whenever something is NOT in stock you can put a pre-order on the market. This has a fixed price nowadays. For boss gear, this usually means that flat (+0) parts and TRI/TET have a very high number of pre-orders because everybody wants them.

BUT you can also put your pre-order on an enhance. Those appear less frequent on the market, but you have a bigger chance to get them.

Night Vendor

The night vendor, aka Patrigio, is stationed in every main city (Velia, Heidel, Calpheon, Altinova, Valencia and Grana). For 50 Energy he will show you an item with a certain price. These prices vary from 80% of the market value to a whopping 250% of the market value. Patrigio also often shows Blackstones and Hard/Sharp Shards for a sometimes cheaper price than the market.

How do you know if the price is right for you? Well of course anything that goes for 80% of the market value is worth it if you have Value Pack. You can just buy it from him, and sell it on the market for profit, or try your luck enhancing. As for boss armor, anything below the current pre-order price is worth it IF YOU NEED IT. It's not really a smart idea to get yourself a Witch Kzarka or Dande for 150m when you play Ninja, durr.

Conclusion

Of course, combining all of the above would be the best way to prepare for your boss gear.

Make sure you making the best use of your alts as possible!
I wish you good luck on your road to boss gear!

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

Failstacking is something that ALWAYS gives questions.

How do you failstack? What material to failstack?
Well... Let's see if I can make you a little wiser...

Please keep in mind, EVERYTHING IS FREAKING RNG. So, if it doesn't work for you like this, don't blame me!

Some people found that one char is more lucky than others, or that some days it's good and some days it isn't.

Find out what works for you. This is just to get you an idea on how it all works!

Failstack Optimization (how to failstack)

Downgrading

Since priests now have the power to downgrade, a negative alt is no longer needed. Of course you can still use this tactic (keep killing horses to go negative, die to guards in towns or mobs to downgrade armor) if you want to.

1-12 fs

You can use +14 Reblath for this (bought in Velia/crafted). Some people get really lucky on Reblath and manage to get 30+ failstacks.

I don't recommend this because not everyone is that lucky, and there's a big chance it won't go like that.

13-20 fs

Use a +14 Green Gear/Weapons/Offhand. You can get greens really cheap from the Special Deals in the Market tabs (bottom one). This will save you alot of money.

Of course if you grind in certain areas you might be able to farm pieces by yourself. You can also craft almost every Green in the game. Up to you how you do this.

Generally, weapons have a bigger chance on failstacking than gear. Don't ask why, I don't know. It just is.

21-32 fs

Use PRI, DUO or TRI Greens (recommended Grunil because you can sell them ez). PRI often goes easier than +15 though, so probably best to use DUOs and TRIs for this.

Of course you can also failstack on Liverto at this point, or even boss gear if you have spares and don't care for Memory Fragments.

33-49 fs

Basically the only way is to fail TRI boss or yellow jewelry. This hurts, I know.

There's also events often that help you with this. Just keep an eye out!

50-100 fs

These happen when you fail TETs. Well, if you're unlucky this even happens on TRI boss... Like me T^T.

100+ fs

These happen when you fail PENs. Of course there's also a chance you're still trying for TET and get this...

Enhancing Tips

Okay so now we know how to failstack, and of course we have the Enhancing and Reforming basics covered, so now on to the important part...

When you enhance weapons its safe up to +7 (no fails). For armor this is +5.

When you fail to enhance past DUO (so TRI), your gear will downgrade. So, if you fail TRI it will become a PRI. Good luck!

Here's a useful failstack sheet (last update dec 2017).

And something a little more up to date below 🙂

Since this only covers gear, weapons and jewelry, I'll go in-depth on the rest of it here.

Do keep in mind that when you fail +7 or higher, your Rod/Matchlock will downgrade.

Most people choose to force the item instead. This will consume more durability, but will upgrade it 100%.

My absolute favorites, some went just like the table above (I only enhance up to +3 though), and some refused to go until I used like 15 for a +2 (and then of course failed the +3).

Enhancing with jewelry and Silver Profession Clothes is always a gamble. Don't do it if you're not willing to perhaps spend more than its worth.

You can also try to pre-order them from the Market. May rng be on your side!

Fishing for Dummies door @Metalharpey#7947

Dit is haar advies/gids over Fishing in Black Desert Online  in het engels gezien de oorspronkelijke guide is geschreven voor de onismusha guild in bdo !!

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

Even though Fishing is by far the easiest profession to level, there's alot more that comes to it then it may seem.

Most people who fish are AFK fishers. Equip a rod, start fishing and when you come back your bag is probably full or your rod is broken.

Sell fish to a trading merchant and tadah~! Profit! Well, did you know you can do alot more than that?

Fishing for Dummies

To get started just head over to any fisher in your city and purchase a normal rod. These NPCs can be found by searching for them using the NPC finder utility close to your minimap. Just select on the fish icon and your character will be directed towards the location of the NPC. You can also find them on your map (M) by clicking on the fish icon.

Once you have a fishing rod, approach any source of water and while you have the rod equipped press space to cast your bait.

After that, wait until you have a bite and when your ready press space to start reeling. The game should tell you when you have a bite (your character will grab the rod with 2 hands and bend down a bit).

Now comes the first phase of the minigame. In this phase you have to press space when the bar is within the blue region. The bar will fill and empty 3 times so you can take your time to get it right. If you succeed then you reach the last phase of the minigame. If you fail you have to re-cast your line and wait for another bite. You can obtain a perfect reel if you manage to press spacebar at the exact time that the bar is completely full. On a perfect reel, you get to skip the last part of the minigame and get your fish instantly.

The second part of the minigame is when you just have to push the right buttons within the time given. The longer the sequence the better the fish you are reeling in! After you have successfully completed all phases of the minigame you will receive a window with the fish you have just caught.

This is basically the essence of fishing with a rod. When you fish with a harpoon, a different minigame will be played.

Once you have caught and received your fish, head over to a Trade Manager to sell your fish! These trade managers can be found by searching them with your NPC finder utility, much like how you found the fisher. You can also find them on your map (M) by clicking on the wagon wheel.

To AFK fish, you have the option to select the box where it says “Do not board other adventurers' mount” when you have your line out. This means you won't get scooped up by trolling players that like to dump you in the Margoria Seas.

When AFK fishing, your character will automatically reel the catch in after 3 minutes of a bite. It will stop fishing when the rod breaks or your bag is full.

You'll see you get several "trash" items while fishing. All of these can be exchanged for something better, such as silver, fishing exp, a chair to give you extra fishing mastery or even Dream (T9 horse) materials!

Fishing Rods

In the BDO world, there are alot of different Fishing Rods available. Some can be repaired and enhanced, some can't.

You'll have to decide what rods you will be using when Fishing. You can craft most of them with your workers in a tool workshop.

  • Level Required: Skilled Lv.5
  • Enhancement Effect: Have a chance to catch up to 4 fish

Note that the Triple-Float Fishing Rod can only be obtained via quest reward in Velia (Abelin).

Fishing Floats

Right now there are only 2 types of fishing floats in the game. These floats are equipped in your secondary weapon slot and can be repaired and enchanted with weapon blackstones. The higher the enchant level the more effect their respective special abilities get. These floats have to be crafted using your workers in a tool workshop, very similar to how you craft your rods.

Ash Tree Float

  • Durability: 50
  • Can be repaired
  • Crafting Materials: Ash Timber x1, Oil of Tranquillity x3, Translucent Crystal x2, Pure Lead Crystal x2
  • Level Required: Professional Lv.1
  • Can be enhanced with Black Stone (Weapon)
  • Enhancement Effect: Increase chances of catching larger fish

Maple Float

  • Durability: 50
  • Can be repaired
  • Crafting Materials: Maple Timber x1, Oil of Tranquillity x3, Red Crystal x2, Pure Lead Crystal x2
  • Level Required: Artesian Lv.1
  • Can be enhanced with Black Stone (Weapon)
  • Enhancement Effect: Increase the chance to catch rarer fish

Harpoons

Harpoons can only be made in a tool workshop on Iliya Island.

Thin Harpoon

  • Durability: 30
  • Crafting Materials: Cedar Timber x1, Copper Ingot x4, Black Stone Powder x1
  • Level Required: Professional Lv.1

Thick Harpoon

  • Durability: 40
  • Crafting Materials: Cedar Timber x2, Iron Ingot x7, Black Stone Powder x3
  • Level Required: Professional Lv.1

The minigame for the harpoon takes more time and is more challenging than fishing with a rod. The aim of the game is to shoot the fish that swims around with your gun before you run out of harpoons and time.

Loot!

Once you catch a fish, it will have a 24 hour expiry date on them. The longer you leave them out the lower the price will get until you reach 0% of the price (24 hours exposure in total). It’s best to sell your fish within 1 hour of catching it or the price will gradually go down. If you’re out on a long trip and your fish will expire its best to dry them using processing. This way, the dry fish will retain its value indefinitely. The only problem is dried fish’s value is not much but at least it’s something where as if you let your fish expire you will get no return in price.

The ocean north of the map consists of several seas. Each sea generally preferred fish just like our oceans in real life. Some fish you can catch more of in some areas and less in others.

When harpoon fishing you have the opportunity to catch fish that cannot be caught with a fishing rod. These fish include whales, sharks and large fish. If you are lucky enough to catch one of these giants they can sell up to 100m silver.

Fish Rarity

  • "Trash" (exchange for better stuff)
  • White fish
  • Green Fish
  • Blue Fisr
  • Yellow Fish
  • Orange Fish

If you're also into Cooking you might want to dry your fish for dishes that you can use later on.

You can also catch items that have value and are not fish (rods only).

Ancient Relic Fragment

  • You need to combine 5 of these to create a Lv.50 Ancient Relic Summon Scroll (expires in 7 days).

Silver Key

  • You need 100 of these to exchange for a Golden Key. Find a treasure box in the BDO world and you can get some awesome loot!
  • You can also use the Silver Keys in the Margoria seas. Sometimes there's a shiny thingy on a float. Jump in and go get it!

Fishing Levels

The higher the fishing skill, the faster and more likely you are to catch higher quality fish.

You will have the ability to use better rods.

You can do certain skill requirement quests.

You can see more “Seagull Hotspots” out in the ocean.

Fishing levels can be obtained by catching fish and getting experience. The higher rarity the fish, the more experience it will give. A good source of xp is also completing the fishing quests around the game. Although these quests can be quite tedious and is not recommended unless you know exactly where to catch the fish they require.

Where to fish

There's fish to catch in almost every water body you can find in the world of Black Desert.

Looking for something specific? Try somethinglovely or one of the links below

Pretty much every fish has its own title when you catch them. There's actually 3 while you catch more and more of them.

There's no proof that titles do anything, however some people stated that if they used a specific title they had a better chance on catching that specific fish.

I guess you should see for yourself what works, and what doesn't.

Buffs

You can also consume food to get buffs concerning fishing.

Of course there are also pets that can increase your fishing skill and/or exp.

Combining 2 of these can result into a +1. If you fail you lose both. If you succeed, your +1 Silver Embroidered Fisher's Clothes will give you item effects:

Fishing Level +1 & Movement Speed +1 & Fishing EXP +10%

Enchants after that increase Movement Speed and Fishing EXP even more.

Aquired through Questing/Rewards

Dim Magical Crystal: Fishing

  • Can be transfused with Armor
  • This does NOT work with Silver Embroidered Fisher's Clothes, because it has no sockets!
  • Item Effects: Fishing EXP +3%

Hotspots

Hotspot fishing is one of the ways you can approach fishing in Black Desert. Hotspot fishing requires you to have a boat. Boats are essential as these hotspots are dynamic and move every 30 minutes. To get a boat you can either buy it off the player marketplace or craft it yourself.

The Epheria Sailboat and Frigate are very fast, however their mounting/boarding speed is far slower so if you're really going out for hotspot hunts you might prefer the Fishing Boat instead.

These hotspots are indicated by a school of fish jumping out of the water with seagulls surrounding it. If you are fishing inland on a river or lake you will only see the school of fish jumping out of the water.

These hotspots will only give you yellow and depending on the type of hotspot orange fish, making the Mediah Fising Rod rather useless. If correctly executed, these spots can be highly profitable. There is also a chance you can catch multiple fish with one cast on a standard fishing rod. If you hold down “spacebar” and invest energy into your cast. With a maximum of 10 energy points you can roll for a chance to catch multiple fish. If you combined this method with a Triple-Float Fishing Rod you have a chance to obtain 5 fish in one cast!

AFK Fishing

Away from keyboard fishing is quite useful when you don’t have much time and can only come back every so often to play Black Desert. To activate this feature just select put your character to fish and that's it. Once there is a bite your character will automatically reel in the fish after 3 minutes and recast once the fish has been collected.

There is not much to AFK fishing, but there are some important things to consider.

  • The quality of the spot you are fishing at.
  • The distance to the nearest warehouse, trader and/or repair facility.
  • Wether it is a safe spot or not (pvp happens after lv50 so you can use a lower alt to avoid it).

Depending on how much time you want to spend between AFK sessions selling fish and repairing then you may or may not need to be close to a town.

Keep in mind that you have plenty of rods to choose from. Pick a rod that is most suitable for your AFK fishing method.

Most people go for a +10 Balenos or +8 Balenos with Brand (reduces repair cost by 33% and durability consumption by 50%).

The Epheria Rod seems to also be a common choice to avoid having to brand it if you have a large inventory.

Both rods should keep you going all night! As long as you have enough inventory slots of course..

This is not very good for active fishing though, then the Mediah, Calpheon or Balenos are a better option. With perhaps a float ^^

To reduce your system load due to having Black Desert running all the time you can close the game to tray. This is when the game runs as a background process but does not load your graphics card. Useful if you like to have your power bills under control. You can do this by pressing “Esc (default)” > “Disconnect” >  “Tray” . This only works when the game is in windowed or windowed fullscreen mode.

Dit is haar advies/gids over Sailing in Black Desert Online  in het engels gezien de oorspronkelijke guide is geschreven voor de onismusha guild in bdo !!

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

Okay, so... Sailing has been in the game for a while now. Yet alot people have no clue what exactly it is, or how to level it.

What is Sailing?

Sailing is one of the newer life skills added in BDO.

To level this, you'll have to sail around in de Margoria Sea region. Yes, that is the sea where you have no compass. And YES, that is where the monsters live.

So, now what?

Well first off all, you're going to need a wonderful Epheria Sailboat or Frigate!

How to get a boat?

In Epheria Port you can build your very own Epheria Sailboat or Epheria Frigate.

Port Epheria 3-5, 2F provides a level 3 Shipyard where you can build these Ship Licences.

So, what do you need?

For an Epheria Sailboat you'll need;

  • Design: Epheria Sailboat x20
  • Standardized Timber Square x800
  • Steel x600
  • Pine Plywood x1500
  • Flax Fabric x300

How you get these mats is entirely up to you. Aside from the Standardized Timber Squares you can find pretty much all of it on the market.

If you don't like to gather, perhaps you can do a few gather missions to get guild contribution while you're at it. Sometimes its easier to work towards a smaller goal if you feel like it's too hard.

For an Epheria Frigate you'll need;

  • Design: Epheria Frigate x20
  • Standardized Timber Square x1000
  • Jade Coral Ingot x800
  • Pine Coated Plywood x1600
  • Enhanced Flax Fabric x450

These materials require far more effort to get then the Sailboat. The only difference between the Sailboat and Frigate is probably the amount of cannons.

The Sailboat has 1 cannon on each side, where the Frigate has 2 cannons on each side.

Both boats can also be upgraded with craftable gear. To do this you're gonna need Port Epheria 1-4, 2F where the only lv4 Ship Part Workshop is located.

For gear click here!

Well then off to the next questions...

Daily quests?

Yes there are daily quests to level Sailing. Since the beginning of Sailing (or almost anyways), there has been a quest in Port Ratt that asks you to move an item to one of the 4 ports on the mainland.

It's up to you which you choose. Of course the further away, the more exp you get. You can choose out of one of these 4 ports: Epheria - Velia - Altinova - Ancado.

The quest starts at Sihuram, the Guild Wharf Manager. Simply pick the port of choice quest, take the item along and sail back to the mainland to hand over the item at the destined spot.

You need to have finished the Margoria questline (click "O" Suggested and find it there).

But, little do they know there's actually more quests!!

In Velia and Epheria Port, talk to the Wharf Managers (normal ones, not guild). They will both have 3 different quests and will send you out to hunt down certain mobs found in the Margoria Sea.

Not only do these give Sailing exp, but you'll also receive a Breezy Crystal (restores 10% of power with 60 min. cd) or an Origin of Wind (restores 50% of power with 30 min. cd).

This will help you go out on the sea to hunt down the monsters, AND of course to go to Port Ratt to take the Sailing daily there.

One downside though, for these quests you'll need Sailing beginner 3! Which of course shouldn't be too much of a hassle because the Port Ratt daily is actually pretty good!

So, how do you do all this when you DONT have a boat?

Well, that's going to be a tricky one. For the Port Ratt daily you can of course take the ferry from Olvia Coast to Lema, and then from Lema to Port Ratt (and back again).

That ride will take you about 45 min to an hour... x2!! Better bring a fishing rod...

So, best to ask a friend or guildy, or even better... If your guild has a Galley, go to Port Ratt together! Hunt sea monsters together!! Sea monsters drop good guild fund loot!

It will require some training and communication to get better on hunting them, but its definitely worth it!

Without your own boat, or riding on a friends/guildy boat you won't be able to kill the sea monsters. The ferry doesn't stop and has no cannons itself.

So don't fall off! Take a Traveler's Map with you just in case...

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

Enhancing your gear and using sockets are really important in Black Desert. These are the two main factors which will affect your damage and defense.
To enhance equipment you will need either a Blackstone (Armor) or a Blackstone (Weapon).
These can be bought from the auction house, night vendor, crafted using a refinery, or farmed as they randomly drop from monsters.

To decide what crystals you want in sockets, I suggest you see for yourself what works best. Some work better than others for your class.

How to enhance

To enhance any piece of equipment, summon your Black Spirit then click “Enhancement”. Right-click your gear and a Blackstone then click “Enhance“. You can also click the Black Stone in your inventory to open up the Enhancement window.

Disenhancing an item which has not gone past it’s safe enhance will always give you all of the Blackstones back. But after that it is random what amount you will get back.
For example: If you disenhance a +4 armor piece (safe enhance is +5) , you will get all 4 Black stones back. If you disenhance a +11 weapon (safe enhance is +7), you may only get 9 Black stones back, despite putting more into the weapon.

Failstacks

When you try to enhance your gear, you will sometimes fail. This is called a fail stack.

  • Failing enhancements give you a +1 success stack which will give you more chance of an enhancing success next time. These are consumed when you successfully enhance an item.
  • You can use cheaper equipment (such as Reblath or green weapons/armor) to get fail stacks.
  • Fail stacks are not shared across all characters. If you need to enhance an item and don’t want to use your fail stacks, use an alt.
  • You can use “safe enhanceing” to guarantee your success, with the cost of max duarbility.

Failstacks are important if you wish to upgrade your gear with succes, instead of wrecking it until you succeed.

Most people use other armor/weapons to failstack on, some use accessoiries. This depends on your own preference, as well as your wealth.

Sometimes you'll get more failstacks than you actually need on the item you're trying to enhance. At such a time it might be an idea to try enhancing blue/yellow accessories

Downgrading

When you're trying to failstack it doesn't always go as planned. Your +14 may pop much sooner than expected and you'll want it back.

Luckily there's been a patch where you can downgrade your +15 items at priest NPCs. There's one in every town.

Downgrading costs 100k, but hey, whats a 100k compared to that extra enhance on your boss item, right?

Repairing max. durability

Each time you fail to enhance an item the max durability will decrease by 5.
When enhancing past +15 this will increase to a 10 decrease per fail.

It’s important to note that you will never actually lose your weapon by enhancing. If your maximum durability reaches zero, it will just become unusable until you repair the max durability. However this often doesn't happen with green or blue gear, so don't worry too much xD

To repair the item’s max durability again you will need the exact same item. If you have upgraded the items grade, you do not need the same grade of weapon and can use a green grade instead. They however need the same name. So for example, you won't be able to fix a blue Taritas with a green Grunil!

Go to a blacksmith and click “Repair” then “Maximum Durability Recovery”. Place the item you want to repair in the “Recovery Target Equipment” slot and the item you want to forfeit into the “Materials” slot. Then click “Recover Max Durability” to confirm. This will increase the max durability by 10.

Memory Fragments

You can also repair your max durability using Memory Fragments instead of using the item. Durability recovery amount varies by item’s grade:

  • White = Recovers 10(Amount increases 3x if used with Artisan’s Memory)
  • Green = Recovers 5 (Amount increases 3x if used with Artisan’s Memory)
  • Blue = Recovers 2 (Amount increases 3x if used with Artisan’s Memory)
  • Yellow = Recovers 1 (Amount increases 3x if used with Artisan’s Memory)

You should only use Memory Fragments on boss armor and boss weapons (Kzarka, Kutum, Nouver, Dandelion). This is because obtaining another of the same item to repair it’s max durability will cost a lot and is hard to do. It is more cost efficient to save any Memory Fragments you get for just those items.

You get Memory Fragments through:

  • Events
  • Daily login (usually the last 5-8 rewards)
  • Ancient Relic Summon Scroll (s. calpheon drops & fishing)
  • Cartian Spell Summon Scroll (mediah drops)
  • Pila Fe Summon Scroll (valencia drops)

Artisan’s Memory

Artisan’s Memory is a one time use item which can be bought from the Pearl Store or Loyalty Store. Using the item will increase the max durability by x4. So if you use this item with memory fragments on boss armor, it will repair 4 durability. You can also use it with items for a whopping 40 durability.

If you are repairing expensive items, such as boss gear, Liverto weapons or blue grade awakening weapons, it might be a good idea to buy an Artisan’s Memory from the Loyalty store to repair more durability. It is much cheaper and cost efficient than using Memory Fragments.

Safe enhance

Helmets, armor chest, gloves and shoes, as well as horse, elephant and ship gear can be enhanced using Blackstone (Armor) to increase the defense (DP). The “safe” enhance for armor is +5. This means that there is a 100% chance of success until you reach +5. After this the chance of success becomes less likely and if you fail to enhance the armor, the max durability of the item will decrease by 5.

Primary/secondary/awakening weapons and matchlocks/fishing rods can be enhanced using Blackstone (Weapon) to increase the damage. The “safe” enhance for weapons are +7. This means that there is a 100% chance of success until you reach +7. After this the chance of success becomes less likely and if you fail to enhance the weapon, the max durability of the weapon will decrease.

There is however no safe enhance for matchlocks, fishing rods, mount gear etc.

You can also choose to “force” enhance after +5 and up to +18. This will guarantee a 100% chance of success but will require extra Black Stones but will decrease the max durability by a set amount.

Force enhancing +16 to +18 is only available on GREEN grade items.

PRI DUO TRI TET PEN

Once you get to +15 you will need to use an item called “Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Armor)” or “Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Weapon)” to enhance your gear to +16 and higher. If you fail to enhance after DUO your enhancement level will be reduced by one. For example: if I have a +18 (TRI) item and fail to enhance when going to +19 (TET), it will go back to +17 (DUO). The maximum you can enhance to is +20 (PEN).

Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Armor)

  • Recipe: Hard Black Crystal Shard x1, Black Stone (Armor) x2
  • Press “L” then “Heating” to craft.

Concentrated Magical Black Stone (Weapon)

  • Recipe: Sharp Black Crystal Shard x1, Black Stone (Weapon) x2
  • Press “L” then “Heating” to craft.

Hard/Sharp Black Crystal Shards can be obtained through different life professions:

  • Gathering – Gathering using any tools
  • Farming – Tending to your farm
  • Hunting – Hunting the Blue Whale

They can also be bought from the Night Vendor (Patrigio), obtained from Treasure Chests (with a Gold Key), Treasure Hunting in the desert, or may be offered as a quest reward in life profession quests. The Black spirit also has several quests of which you get these as a reward.

Another way to get Hard Shards is heating Bensho's Necklace.

Another way to get Sharp Shards is heating Witch's Earing or Ancient Guardian Seal.

There might be more accessories that give you these items, haven't really tested it ^^''

Accessories

Rings, earrings, necklaces and belts do not have a “safe” enhance. In fact they have a high chance of failure and only enhance up to level +5 (PEN).
Enhancing accessories requires two of the same item and if they fail to enhance both of the accessories will be destroyed!

You can decide to use Cron Stones, however its not 100% sure you will get back the original item when you fail.
I used it once to save a DUO Basilisks Belt while failing to TRI it, and I only got a normal Basilisks Belt back!

Other equipment

You can also enhance horse equipment, wagon parts, ship parts, life skilling clothes and other equipment using Blackstone (Armor).

Some fishing rods can be enhanced to give specific benefits, such as increasing the durability or higher the chances of you catching bigger fish.
Fishing rods do not have a safe enhance, can be enhanced up to +10, and use Blackstone (Weapon). After +7 you have a chance to downgrade your item if you fail.
Same goes for Matchlocks.

You can “force safe enhance” which will decrease it’s maximum durability. Repairing maximum durability works the same way as other items.

Cron Stones

To prevent the enhancement count from decreasing if enhancement fails, use a "Cron Stone".

Cron Stones can be bought from a Black Smith for 1 million silver, and are used to prevent a enhancement from decreasing if the enhancement fails.

Cron Stones can be used on:

  • Weapons which are DUO (+17) or higher
  • Armor which is DUO (+17) or higher
  • Accessories that are PRI (+1) or higher

The amount of Cron Stones required depends on the item’s current price. Regardless of whether the enhancement succeeds or fails, the Cron Stones used will be removed.

Cron Stones can be used on accessories to stop them from breaking if unsuccessful. However, it’s enhancement can either remain the same OR decrease.

Reform Stones

Reform Stones will change the color of your gear (aka tier), please do keep in mind you CANNOT sell anything of a higher tier than the original. For example: a yellow Grunil cannot be put on the market, because the base tier is green!

There are five item grades in Black Desert. These indicate the rarity of the item by color (ordered lowest to highest):

  • White Grade
  • Green Grade
  • Blue Grade
  • Yellow Grade
  • Orange Grade

Right now, the highest you can get your gear to, is Ultimate grade (yellow). To do this, you'll need reform stones.

There are currently 3 levels of Reform Stones for armor and weapons:

Grade 1 Armor Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 1
  • Production Materials: Zinc Ore x10, Mud Crystal x1, Bloody Tree Knot x1, Sinner’s Blood x1, Black Stone Powder x10
  • Use at a level 1 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a low chance of making your armor blue grade (I would recommend using Grade 2 reform stones instead).

Grade 1 Weapon Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 1
  • Production Materials: Tin Ore x10, Translucent Crystal x1, Red Tree Lump x1, Sinner’s Blood x1, Black Stone Powder x10
  • Use at a level 1 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a low chance of making your weapon blue grade (I would recommend using Grade 2 reform stones instead).

Grade 2 Armor Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 2
  • Production Materials: Bronze Ingot x3, Green Crystal x2, Spirit’s Leaf x2, Legendary Beast’s Blood x2, Black Stone Powder x20
  • Use at a level 2 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a higher chance of making your armor blue grade.

Grade 2 Weapon Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 2
  • Production Materials: Brass Ingot x3, Red Crystal x2, Monk’s Branch x2, Wise Man’s Blood x2, Black Stone Powder x20
  • Use at a level 2 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a higher chance of making your weapon blue grade.

Grade 3 Armor Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 3
  • Production Materials: Steel x4, Melted Platinum Shard x3, Black Crystal x3, Old Tree Bark x2, Tyrant’s Blood x2, Black Stone Powder x40
  • Use at a level 3 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a low chance of making your armor ultimate grade.

Grade 3 Weapon Reform Stone

  • Obtainable from: Refinery Lv 3
  • Production Materials: Steel x5, Melted Platinum Shard x3, Black Crystal x3, Red Tree Lump x2, Clown’s Blood x2, Black Stone Powder x40
  • Use at a level 3 forge workshop
  • This reform stone has a low chance of making your weapon ultimate grade.

Keep in mind that none of these stones give you a 100% upgrade. There's always a small chance your gear will revert to green, or blue.
There's only a small chance that it actually becomes yellow. This is totally RNG so it's up to you if you try your luck, or not!

If you do want a 100% reform, you can. Ultimate reform stones DO NOT FAIL. Ever.

Ultimate Weapon Reform Stone

  • Grade 3 Weapon Reform Stone x10
  • Sharp Black Crystal Shard x1
  • Open the Processing Window (L) then select “Heating”

Ultimate Armor Reform Stone

  • Grade 3 Armor Reform Stone x10
  • Hard Black Crystal Shard x1
  • Open the Processing Window (L) then select “Heating”

Archaeologist’s Map door @Metalharpey#7947

Dit is haar advies/gids over de archaeologist's map in Black Desert Online  in het engels gezien de oorspronkelijke guide is geschreven voor de onismusha guild in bdo !!

if you have any questions you can ask them on discord !!

What is the Archaeologist's Map?

Welp, to cut it short, it's basically a permanent map that allows you to Teleport to any town that you've been to within a certain time frame (30 min).
This doesn't work during Node/Conquest Wars, Red Battlefield or when in jail.
Useful, right?

So how do we get this?
This is the pattern to put it all in:

First of all, you're gonna need a few items;

  • Forest Emerald
  • Gold Topaz
  • Ocean Sapphire
  • Blood Ruby
  • Map of Unknown Piece x4

That last one, Map of Unknown Piece, is by far the hardest to get.
You need to get 4 different ones, from different mobs at high AP grindspots.
From top to bottom:

  • Lava Tukar (Roud Sulfur Works/Mine) 0,003% dropchance

  • Iron Fist Warder (Pila Ku Jail) 0,0025% dropchance

  • Lava Devourer (Roud Sulfur Works/Mine) 0,002% dropchance

  • Sordid Deportee (Pila Ku Jail) 0,005% dropchance

Try to have at least 250DP when going to either places. Roud Sulfur is easier than Pila Ku, but still shouldn't be underestimated.

Roud Sulfur recommended: 210 AP (or 190 with Kutum)

Pila Ku recommended: 210 AP (or 200 with Kutum)
The mobs in Pila Ku also have high cc so be careful not to get stunned and die while pulling groups (low DP really is insta-death here).

All the Map of Unknown Pieces are different, but how can you tell?
Well, they look exactly the same and if you auto arrange you'll lose track of them. Best keep each part in a different warehouse to put them together when you have them all.
Or you can try locking the pieces in your inventory, if you don't mind losing those slots for these items.

When one drops, it will show you in chat which mob it came from. Of course this only works if you turned on those settings!

Increase your droprates

It hasn't been proven to work for these items, but you might as well spend a little effort since you'll be grinding in both spots for quite a while. Unless you're of course super lucky!
So, how do we increase droprates?

Connect the nodes!

Level the nodes!
You can use Energy to level-up a Node you have already invested in. The higher level, the higher the chance that the monsters in that area will drop better items.
For every level you gain a 5% dropchance. So a level10 node gives 50% on 10% of the mobs you kill. The 10% means every 10th mob you kill has a 50% increased droprate.

Increase your Knowledge!
S ranks on mob give you increased EXP gain, as well as a better loot dropchance. There are no concrete numbers for this though.

Increase your Ecology Effect!
Droprates increase for every 1000 Points you have, up to a +20% with over 8000 points!

Of course there's also the Item Collection Increase Scroll, which gives you another 100% extra droprate.
In the Pearl Store you can also get the Blessing of Kamasylve, which adds another 20% drop chance.

Again, it hasn't been proven to work. Since these items are extremely rare there's not really any way to test this.
Use whatever you want/can, and hope for the best!

Good luck!

The most important part of leveling up/mastering your professions, is to have fun.

Don't just play for profit. Most professions are generally NOT profitable at all.

This of course depends on how much you do by yourself, instead of buying materials etc. from the Market.

Basics & Useful Recipes

From Beginner to Apprentice you should be focused on making Beers for your workers.

  • 5x Grain (Barley, Corn, Potato, Sweet Potato, Wheat)
  • 6x Mineral Water (purchased from cooking vendor)
  • 2x Leavening Agent (purchased from cooking vendor)
  • 1x Sugar (purchased from cooking vendor)

Starting at Apprentice 1, you can start doing some of the cooking dailies in Velia and Olvia to raise your cooking skills (see below). Some of them won’t fully unlock until you reach Skilled.

Making Beer is still a decent way to raise your cooking levels but you might want to start thinking about making Tea with Fine Scent for the Milk Tea/Sute Tea that you will be able to make once you hit Skilled in cooking. From there you can create even more special and advanced dishes!

Tea with Fine Scent: Max. MP +50 for 60 min.

  • 4x Flower (Sunflower/Tulip/Rose)
  • 4x Fruits (Apple/Strawberry/Grape/Cherry/Pear/Banana/Pineapple)
  • 7x Mineral Water (purchased from cooking vendor)
  • 3x Cooking Honey

Starting at Skilled 1, you can make Milk Tea/Sute Tea so hopefully you have stockpiled a bunch from the Apprentice levels for use if you want to specialize in this.

Milk Tea: Combat exp. increase +8% & HP recovery +5 for 90 min.

  • 2x Tea with Fine Scent
  • 2x Grain Flour (Barley, Corn, Potato, Sweet Potato, Wheat)
  • 3x Milk
  • 3x Cooking Honey

Daily Quests

This is probably the easiest and most profitable way to level your Cooking profession. Keep in mind that some of these steps, you can do by yourself as well. This is a guide made for people who actually have something to do in real life, aside from gaming

Invest a worker on the grape node in Olvia and a worker on the olive node. Invest workers in the three potato nodes in Velia and also invest workers in both chicken farms. Invest workers off the coat of Epheria, you want to invest in 1 shellfish node and 2 regular fish nodes. Invest a worker in Heidel for honey production. Once a day you will collect all your gatherings and dry your fish. You will spend Alts energy collecting Milk in Olvia, pounding flour and butchering wolves for wolf meat at the Western Guard Camp or lambs/sheep at Goat Mountain. Finally you need to purchase 2 strong fences costing 10 contribution each. You need to raise onions and pepper through farming. If you do all of these things you will be able to do these awesome daily quests once per day. They pay off huge Cooking Exp rewards and huge silver payouts in the Auction House (All of the dishes, especially the last).

There are 5 dailies in Olivia that are super easy to complete.

  • Quest 1 is given by a boy on the fence of the cow pen. Collect milk and you're done.
  • Then the cook in the Inn has 4 Daily quests. One quest you have to unlock through the conversation game. It is really easy to win this game with her. The first quest she gives (Quest 2) is make cheese. Well you just got milk, make 2 cheese by pressing L and drying milk.
  • Quest 3 you need to make 5 beer. 6 Mineral water, 5 grain (Example potato), 2 leavening agent, 1 sugar per combine until you hit 5 beer.

Farming instead of Node investment/workers

This method is for people who LOVE to farm . You need to have some workers doing Potato’s, Wheat, Corn and Barley. The reason for this is you need grains in order to create good fertilizer. But I have seen people get by with as few as two nodes and two workers . Invest most of your contribution points into Strong Fences and place them in appropriate locations on the map.

Choose 3-4 dishes you want to specialize in and plant your crops accordingly. At a bare minimum you should have 10 farms going to be a highly successful Farmer/Cook. This path offers a lot of freedom! You can 100% ignore your crops until it is time to harvest them by pressing R.

Start off with the cheapest seeds and slowly grow your crops from whites to greens to blues. The reason you want Blue ingredients is they count as 5 in your cooking recipes (Greens count as 3, Whites as 1). You can sell excess blue seeds on the Market for good money.

Another bonus of farming for yourself is you can harvest almost 4-5 times a day and get HIGH numbers of crops. Much higher than if you gather it using a tool, and did I mention you do not need tools to farm! Most people do not even use scarecrows they just tend them once per hour and typically harvest in 5-8 hours.

Fertilizers

For Inorganic Fertilizer: Get 5 grain press L dry it and presto!

For Fertilizer Byproduct get 3 Inorganic Fertilizer, 2 Leavening Agent and press L to shake them!

For Organic Fertilizer take some empty bottles to a river. Fill them. Press L, Heat them. This makes Distilled Water.

1 Fertilizer Byproduct and 2 Distilled Water if you press L and shake them will make 1 Organic Fertilizer!

Fishing

You simply Fish, sell the expensive ones, dry the cheap ones. Then cook your fish into awesome fish recipes (Use cheap live ones for less energy). Fish dishes actually sell really well and you could do the first Velia Daily each day for some extra Cooking Exp.

Byproducts

When you're busy Cooking, you'll also get byproducts every now and then. Keep them! Save them up to about 200 and then go hand them in. The rewards you get for it are really not that bad!

  • 5x Dish with Weird Texture: 3k Silver coins
  • 5x Taken Out Food: Cooking XP
  • 5x Strongly Seasoned Dish: 1 Milk
  • 5x Dish with Poorly Prepared Ingredients: 5 Contribution Points

The great thing about Black Desert is it offers so many paths to success. Make sure you are having fun while cooking so you do not get burned out. Pick a few dishes to specialize in and realize that you will never have the energy to do everything and be fine with that. When you cook you make 5 dishes as by products. They give Cooking exp, Contribution exp, Silver, Milk and Beer. Waiting until you have stacks of 200 then turning them in is a smart idea to avoid having to go back and forth all the time!

Of course, when you plan to do Imperial Deliveries for that extra cash (requires some more activity), you'd have to specialize into something else entirely.
